I think for consumers it doesn't matter the reason. A bad experience is still a bad experience, and that's something I found the Apple appstore to be, so avoid it most of the time.

iOS is also filled with apps that have ads and subscriptions. Having something like F-droid for Foss apps without the nonsense is nice if you need something like a simple pdf reader or even a calculator. IPad has no calculator for example and there's so much crap you have to shift through to find a simple calculator that doesn't have ads or subscriptions.

Samsung s23 ultra is my first Samsung and despite having come from Pixels and Oneplus I found I actually liked the Samsung stuff like edge panel, one hand plus+ operation, and sound assistant. All the good lock additions was like getting custom rom features. Find it hard to consider a phone without something like the Spen too now, since I use it to take notes and select text.

In terms of performance if the game has the same visuals does Unreal do better in that department than red engine?

Accessing chats in big picture mode seems worse than how it worked in old big picture mode. Usually if you are in big picture mode it is because you are using a controller, and with the new one it is hard to navigate chats with the controller so I end up using a mouse.

Also, would be nice to have an option to display the entire text of a comment in pop ups, since it often cuts off and I have to entire toggle to overlay , alt tab, or look at the terrible steam chat mobile app. Apps needs work for basic messaging with it not refreshing to show the most recent chat consistently so having to exit and reopen.

What did the plant say to their friend they hadn't seen in ages?

Long thyme no see.

Safari + sponsorblock to airplay YouTube videos to the TV without needing some third party app like smarttubenext on the TV or logging into YouTube premium.

No ads and skipping sponsors with just no extra steps and no need for any other apps is nice. Especially since I don't even have the YouTube app installed.

I'll give this a look, but I worry the files I would like to sync won't be available for some with how random the file access is from app to app.

I have a S23U and edge panels to open up new apps and one hand operation + to make gestures from the edges helps me navigate with one hand.

Despite having an iPad Pro I would say my S23U is more advanced than my iPadOS. My S23U has better external monitor support for one, and file system makes it much closer to actually feeling like a computer over my tablet. Then there's not needing to use stuff like the Alt store to side load. And apps like syncthing make iOS/iPadOS limitations so apparent with how files sync seamlessly across my Linux, Mac, Windows, and Android devices while my iPadOS is the black sheep in that department with the limited file access when trying out syncthing equivalent apps.

Apple is a very restrictive mobile that just doesn't have great compatibility for anything that isn't Apple. That it doesn't let it be advanced despite the powerful chip becomes really apparent if you try to do anything more than try and use it outside Apple devices, use external monitors, or even want to split screen when it comes to iOS.

One thing it has going for it though is long term updates, but my iPad is pretty an expensive glorified comic book reader most of the time now. I found myself wishing iPadOS had the equivalent of edge panels and one hand operations+ so I could just navigate more easily without having to do full hand gestures.

I hate that Google doesn't even alert you through email if they delist an app you paid for and also remove it from being installable.

Edit: I think that this feature is id-walled for kbin users. Which is good, it’s already potentially problematic enough that the entire Lemmy content is fully “crawl-able” without limitation by OpenAI and other less-desirable content crawlers; it would be really problematic if votes were unconditionally public.

It can be viewed without an account might be the url being a problem. But, you can go to kbin and then click "more" then "activity" for any comment or thread to look through what kbin was able to register when it comes to user votes.

I am not running an instance, and am not familiar with the synchronization delay, but this seems unexpectedly long (the downvotes for this post started immediately as I posted it - more than 24 hours ago, so it’s very surprising to see nothing on kbin).

kbin and lemmy has sometimes been problematic when it comes to synchronizing content. Sometimes threads don't even show up on kbin or lemmy if the opposite userbase attempts to make a thread. Same for lemmy and lemmy instances too where some comments will show up and others don't. Even more inconsistencies with how instances will have different defederation lists. This makes votes appear inconsistent from instances to instances and even more so for instances that deactivated downvotes.

Checking it appears that kbin only registers upvotes from kbin and lemmy instances now and only downvotes from kbin users publicly. Wonder if this is a decision kbin made or something was done on lemmy end to keep downvotes of lemmy users from being registered by kbin.

Had been searching and saw some comments for products where people were saying they were getting lag with their wireless mouse. So wondered if there's a product people have had luck with.

I have my USB-C ports already occupied, and would rather rely on USB-A.

Edit: USB 3.0 seems to be what has caused issues for some people, so I decided to go with a cheap USB 2.0 hub due to using it for wireless peripherals and printer as opposed to transferring data.

Like if I got libreoffice open and active on the left of my screen and safari open on the right then go from my active window being libreoffice to now safari where the browser is on lemmy.world and I go and click the search icon it doesn't automatically recognize that I hit the search icon or any post on a single click. Instead it activates that window requiring me to click again. Essentially turning it into a two part process of double clicking or alt + Command then click. Same for if I go to YouTube.com then go to another opened program then move the cursor over to click the search input field for the first time or click a video.

But, then if I go from an active window like LibreOffice straight to the address bar that's just one click required of me which made it apparent this is a program issue/decision, since some programs don't require that click to focus then click again to recognize user inputs but instead initiates them the first time.

Would be nice if this type of behavior could be adjusted system wide, since when it happens it makes things feel unresponsive with actions not being accept the first time. I'm guessing this might be a remnant of when side by side or multiple monitor multitasking wasn't as widespread, and more switching between programs that are taking the entire focus of the screen?

For me these have entered into my must haves

  • BetterDisplay: For better scaling support for external monitors
  • Rectangle: To be able to use a mouse to drag and snap windows
  • Pixea: To be able to double click an image with a mouse in any folder and then use arrow keys or scroll wheel to proceed to the next file in the folder. Replaced the stock preview with this.

Something I'm looking for now is the ability to use the forward and back buttons on my mouse when I'm in Finder and want to go back to the previous folder I was in. Doesn't work in Safari either. Works in good old dependable Firefox though.

And separate volume controls for each applications.

What I want to be able to do is open any folder and double click the image and navigate to the next image with arrows. Without having to view that folder through a separate gallery program.

But instead what happens is I double click and arrows do nothing and stays on the opened Pic. So what I have to do instead is select the Pic and press space. Then I can navigate from left to right. But, then it doesn't automatically move to the next row, so I have to press down to go down to the next row then move from right to left then down then left to right. Or change from my preferred grid view to list view so I can just rely on a single key press or change to multicolumn view which I'm not a fan of . Having to do those extra steps feels so clunky.

Is there a way to change the behavior of the default preview so double clicking to open a picture in a folder leads to being able to just use arrows to move to the next image in the folder? I'll even accept hitting space and the image preview automatically moving to the next row. Or another program to replace it that is a better image preview?

Should I go with this one or are there others that would be better?

I don't want something I have to deal with some software like iTunes for and would rather plug in the device into any computer and move files and have the player automatically recognize it.

Want to use it when going for runs. Audio jack and Bluetooth support is a must. No need for anything else fancy

Edit: I came across the SanDisk 16GB Clip Sport Plus MP3 Player. Seems like it might be what I'm looking for. Anyone have any other simple mp3 players with Bluetooth support they recommend?

https://github.com/andrewbanchich/shreddit

I opened terminal with my comment.csv put in the desktop

  1. I did cargo install shreddit

  2. Then made the reddit app credentials

  3. Then did shreddit --username YouRedditUsername --password YourSuperSecretPassword123 --client-id clientidreplace --client-secret clientsecretreplace --gdpr-export-dir ~/Desktop/comments.csv

With the relevant information replaced with my own. But after I click enter nothing more happens like a message saying deleting or anything like that. Just cursor blinking. So do I just leave it alone or did something go wrong?

Update : Using the shreddit-linux file ended up working for me. On Linux to run it I had to right click it then go to properties and then allow executable. Then to run it in terminal I had to go to the directory shreddit-linux was in and type ./shreddit-linux.

Also, you have to make sure you extract all the GDPR files together. If it is missing one it needs you get an error, so after some error messages extracting everything fixed it for me and got it to start deleting.

I ran into the profile limit so no more comments show up, but they are still on reddit with the csv file having links to the ones that haven't been deleted. There's too much for me to do it manually so would appreciate help if there's some tool to automate the process.

I know there are addons, but would be nice to have something native built in instead of having to trust an addon. Current method without addons that I know of is creating a container then deleting it, but that's not as convenient and pretty cumbersome.

Is there any about:config functions that might unlock what I want?
