Adoption always comes with a certain level of trauma that not all people are prepared to help the child work through. There are also a lot of unknowns that come with it that can be challenging, both medically and behaviorally, that are lessened by having a biological child.

Naturally, it's also much more straightforward to have your own kid if there aren't fertility issues.

Yeah I'm personally not a fan of the remake trend unless it's a substantial feature add or a major spruce-up to an old game. Even then, I don't think they are replacements to the originals. Especially since in my ideal scenario we're looking at new engines and thus different game behaviors no matter how close they try to stick to the source material.

One thing that we'd get with better game preservation is a higher bar for remakes. I feel the excitement that people feel towards remakes today tends towards "wow, I get to (re)play this non-current-gen game!", when imo it should be "wow, they've really improved on this readily available game!"

I think it largely depends on which version was your first experience. For example, I grew up with Crash Bandicoot. The remakes of the original trilogy are great but always felt off. I recently went back and replayed the ps1 version of Crash 2 and decided that it is the definitive version for me going forward.

Now if we're talking re-releasing the original games, publishers can charge more for remakes. If a game has a remake I assume the originals will never see the light of day again. Nintendo excluded, they're a wildcard.

My hope is that the more pro-consumer storefronts like Steam and GOG will help stave that off. At least to the extent of ensuring both approaches remain as options (especially now that one of them makes handhelds). Time will tell, though.

BG3 with my wife. As great as it was I'm already enjoying this a lot more than DoS2, I just enjoy DnD mechanics more and those shields felt suffocating on build options. When she doesn't feel like gaming, I've also been working on Disco Elysium, which has also been great. I'm not really sure how I wound up in this double whammy of games about WORDS. MANY WORDS.

I don't really care about the thumbnails but the video titles are awful. I'm not going to click on a video if I don't actually know what it's about. What am I supposed to expect when I start watching just about any of these?

I personally am not one for nudity in my games but BG3 is literally the dumbest hill to die on. If anyone actually is, I didn't see any examples. Reason being, the first thing that happens when you start the game is that it asks if you want to turn it off.

That is a good catch, I clearly glossed over that. I recently gave most of my rig a facelift as I was bottlenecked by my old CPU. A GPU is 100% next in line but thankfully we're still enjoying the game on our Decks.

I agree it's odd. For some it's constant and others it's unheard of. Hopefully they're able to track it down. 3 patches since release is a good sign.

I3 12100f, gtx 1060 3gb, and ssd on Linux. We since switched to steam deck where we have only had 1 crash. I should be hitting a bit over the minimum specs but my bet is I was running out of vram in cutscenes where the detail is higher.

Wife and I are loving it but it needs some tunning for sure. Performance struggles and crashes are pretty common, and my wife clipped through a door just after the tutorial section. Didn't do anything crazy, just walked right on through a locked door.

And I'm really hoping we get to hang onto him.
