Yoooo 13 Sentinels
To this day the most unable I've ever been to put down a game. I think I beat it in two days that were fully dedicated to it, even while eating. It's a drug and each hit is a Memento-tier reveal or twist.

The most baffling and frustrating thing was that they saw the negative reception to the concept during the initial reveal... And their response was to sink even more time into it for polish. So sad to see.
The people that made the decision to steer Naughty Dog away from Factions will be able to point to this title before negotiating their next salary raise.
That's true, I have to imagine a significant amount of the people driving the push for the IPO are only doing so to drive value up, cash out and vanish
I think there are a lot of extreme measures that would theoretically increase its profitability that they have not yet taken, most of which I have to assume are in the cards in the foreseeable future.
Most of them are, of course, measures that would severely impact user experience in a very negative way, but it's clear at this point that they are drunk on hubris and believe users will stay no matter what.
My coop Elden Ring run had both simultaneously, it was ridiculous.
"Make sure to create a good character" I told my brother, naively.
Inevitably, when I looked at his screen after creating my generic fair looking fantasy character, I saw he had engineered a neon-purple skinned monstrosity with protruding orbital bones that had ended up covering its eyes, of course all surrounded by fluorescent-green hair from all directions. When I protested that we couldn't possibly play with such clashing characters, he not only confirmed his character but insisted, throughout the whole playthrough, on wearing clothing and headwear that showed as much of the purple hideousness as possible.
My most repeated phrases in that playthrough were "oh shit, it's this boss, I had a bad time with it on solo"; "I swear, that boss was much harder than that on solo"; and "We get it, you are PURPLE".
those are some fat bois
I was terrible at Hi Fi Rush, and that's the ultimate sign that it is an excellent character action game
oh dammit very unfortunate phrasing there
...or is it?
very much this, the soundtrack became my soundtrack for work for like two years
every boss theme would be the best boss theme in any other game, but here they are just one of many
Metal Gear Rising Revengeance
It has zero filler, it's wall to wall balls to the wall nonstop action
you might exceed the ten hours slightly if you're bad like me and get stuck in the final boss for two hours but otherwise it's perfect
This sounds like something that would be played on The Genius, I'm all for it
I love the competitive scene of this game, it has such an uncommon mix of players from all ages, backgrounds and vibes. And even if you are not familiar with the game at the beginning, the historical setting makes it easier to understand it and get into it ... You don't need to know exactly what a castle does in the game to know that having a castle built near you is a bad thing and stuff like that.
Also because of how the gameflow works, comebacks from near death are so common.
