We want trees (slrpnk.net)

Alt text: Photo of the backside of an advertisement billboard in Lisbon with graffiti writing "TAKE THiS SHiT OFF WE WANT TREES!" There is a busy street with cars in the background, and two people in the front that seem to be indifferent to the text.

Is this request for inclusionary, language, or visual impairment purposes, or is it to help AI models learn stuff or something? Just curious. Thanks.

I never thought about AI models in that context, but that is actually an interesting perspective! I hope ot does not get scraped tho

Do you mind if I ask what the benefits of the descriptions are for you? I have a business website that I try and keep as accessible as possible for everyone, and was wondering if it helps with a certain type of accessibility issue I haven't heard or thought of. Again, thanks!

I want at least some of the communities i moderate to be more accessible. I think image descriptions benefit those with vision impairment, low bandwith and in case of a broken image link / image server. I dont have any direct personal benefit from that.

Sweet, thanks for the feedback. I'm always on the lookout for ways to keep things more accessible. Cheers!

Yes. The intent is for first, but it helps the latter as a side effect.

Before I read the text I immediatelly thought "I know this place" and then spent several minutes examining the photo and trying to confirm if it indeed was Campo Grande in Lisbon or not. (Not a single car license plate is visible, by the way).

Mind you, if it is the place in Lisbon I think it is, which (you can't quite tell it from this angle) is a large 3 (4?) lane roundabout with constant traffic, the comment is probably about the traffic heavy roundabout itself rather than the billboards.

If it is so, I wholly agreed with it: Portugal has a huge problem with its insane car-oriented mindset (it's even a social signal of success).
