It's based on the Sixth Street Viaduct in Los Angeles! I shared the main image from this article with Sean during the idea generation phase:
It's basically a bridge. It's a viaduct, which as far as I can figure is just a long bridge that goes over an extended stretch of land instead of across a valley. It's not a highway, since it's technically part of a city street, but considering how people drive on it, if you called it a repurposed highway you wouldn't be far off.
