My post nasal hurts, so do my sinuses, I ache all over and am feeling weirdly overheated but when I take off a layer I get cold. Anytime I feel like this the rat comes back negative so it’s either the chronic sinus infection back or hayfever.

Also really struggling with ‘hot’ boredom. Apparently since I can’t do much physically my brain won’t allow me to do anything either, in solidarity. This is not restful. It’s demoralising and miserable

Finished my daily "morning walk" and "food cupboard" quests. Mr Woof picked up a few more sniff quests, and we finished the "man in a hoodie" quest today - it didn't lead to an ongoing chain, we identified he is walking around the block multiple times while keeping an eye on a fitness tracker. We failed to get an explanation for the fashion choice of a hoodie with shorts.

I'm not sure if looking at my life like a gaming list of quests helps or hinders getting things done. I officially failed the "put the bins out" quest this week, and have really not made any progress on the main gardening quest line. Unfortunately I don't live in game time, so these things don't just wait around indefinitely for me to do them.

All done with my training and the work week! I've been saying it for a couple of weeks now but I absolutely MUST clean this place tonight/tomorrow because I'm having a friend come to stay Sunday night. Visitor cleaning motivation go go go!

Luckily, I've done a few little bits here and there so I have a head start.

I did not walk the 3km home from Kmart as I got sucked into getting some storage things and a replacement shower caddy for the frankly terrible one that came with the unit and every time I use it I think "I need to get a new one" and promptly forget. Anyway I have those and then after over 10 years living in Australia i have finally stepped into an actual Ikea in this country (surprise, same layout everywhere!) and got a squeegee - the original thing I came to this shopping centre for - and a hanging storage thing for my closet (another "this is annoying, I should fix it (and then forget about it)" situation), and a set of 3 cool storage hooks that look like the arseholes of Richmond supporters.

I did my best to say no to things that seemed nifty but that I don't need and can make do with what I have. And now I'm extremely overwhelmed from being in cheap plastic shops for so long and feeling kind of gross about buying new things so I'm going to cook some food from scratch when I get home

I have been popping into the gözleme place over the road every few days for the last 2 weeks trying to get a sujuk & tasty cheese gözleme but they either keep just selling out for the day or waiting for a delivery of the sausage. Today I finally have obtained one and I am pleased :)

If you ever see it on a Turkish menu, it's a lovely spicy (not too spicy, just enough to make it interesting) sausage. Don't be scared of the sujuk (sometimes spelled sucuk) it is your friend.

Do you know what else is really good? Simit. It's a turkish doughnut shaped bread roll with sesame seeds and has a slight sweet taste. Once you try them, you'll think about them all the time.

Ugh, was going to build a mobile mitre saw stand but then saw guides on making a flip top. Awesome, then I have saw table I can flip to also be a mobile workbench! but then cutting the ply would mean dragging out the table saw so I should probably put that on skates since it's gonna get a lot of use building cabinets in the future, so I do some nosing on that and everyone is building little platforms to put their tables on and why don't they just get lockable castors on threads and bolt them to the existing bolt-down holes on the table saw feet? Is there a reason for this? I need to know as the table end height would dictate the mitre saw table so I can set them the same height and use it as an outfeed......

Voting done. There was a queue, but not too long only had to wait about 10min. Maybe because it was around lunch time.

[–] kudra@aus.social 4 points 1 year ago

@SituationCake @bot001 well that just gave me a heart attack! I am glad to see I didn't remember the date wrong and that's just early voting. Phew.
