Has Bill Maher been accused of any sex crimes? I assume yes, based on this headline

I have a very, very hard time imagining that he wouldn't have been, at very least in terms of harassment. More just seems like someone not important enough that accusations would have been that newsworthy.
I think it was a civil lawsuit. Dismissed iirc.
I'm not sure what to think of Bill Maher these days, but I do find the Woody Allen case to be particularly sad. I've done some fairly deep reads on that and can't find any indications of real evidence that he was: 1) ever remotely a child abuser or molester with anyone at all, or 2) acted improperly with his wife, who was never his step-daughter and only got together with him after her mother had broken up with Woody. Note that she was also 21yo at the time IIRC, and not a minor at all. So, far as I can tell from all that, his career was ruined over optics, and nothing more.
OTOH, there seemed to be a lot more reason and motivation as to why his ex fabricated the whole thing, coaching their young daughter to lie about the molestation. And note that at least two of her own kids have gone on the record stating they don't believe it, adding some scathing things to say about her as a mother.
Then again, it's not like I was there, and if strong evidence comes along to reverse my conclusions, then fair enough. But in the meantime, it seems a terrible shame that one of the USA's greatest filmmakers is being unwarrantedly frozen out of his good work.
EDIT: Oh blimey, I just noticed which community this was. To be clear-- please do not take this comment whatsoever as an attack against feminism, which I fully support. Mods, please delete this comment as necessary.
I have similar feelings about Polanski's fleeing the country.
He was to be acquitted, then had drinks with the judge and told him exactly what happened, whereupon the judge takes the acquittal off the table.
That's improper behavior on the judge's part in my book. Maybe he should've served his time, but I understand why he chose to flee after that treatment.
Edit: Also same, I certainly wasn't insinuating that Polanski is innocent or anything of the sort. Didn't see the community at all.
Polanski drugged and anally raped a 13 year old child. Anyone who hears the guy confess to that should take an acquittal off the table.
No one wants to be in prison. It's understandable why someone would flee justice; but that doesn't make it excusable.
Agreed. I do not excuse him for his crimes in the least. I do again apologize for not seeing which community I was responding in. Nor have I ever seen one of Polanski's movies, for what tiny bit that's worth.
In that sense it was a bad comparison to the Woody Allen example. I'm not trying to exonerate Polanski in anyone's estimation.
Dude was a creep.
Fair enough.
