It's sadly a global problem, not only in the western journalism. In some places, journalists risk their lives if they tell the truth that the economic and political powers do not like. The media therefore reflect the truth that suits a certain lobby. See Asange and others, but China isn't better, even censored and blocks media which don't reflect a positive opinion of the policy (The Great Firewall, part of The Golden Shield Project). https://www.comparitech.com/privacy-security-tools/blockedinchina/

i wonder if when the EU bans twitter will we see people call it a "great firewall" or will we be instructed to cheer? as we are now safe from russian, chinese, muslim, etc propaganda

[–] knfrmity@lemmygrad.ml 10 points 2 years ago

When Germany banned RT a year ago there were only cheers to be heard from German libs. It wasn't censorship at all, since Germany has "freedom of opinion" you see, a freedom of opinion which only need be extended to those whose opinion isn't somehow construed as offensive.

It isn't a censure, if a web spread fake news and hate speech. Same if a web is closed because offering piracy soft or spread malware. That has nothing to do with censoring free speech. In China the police control the mobiles of the people, if they used not autorized apps. Not the same

radiofreeasia lol.... okay that was single instance by a single local official, its easy to delete an app on your phone, and if you think a $3 a month VPN turns you into James Bond...

[–] Zerush@lemmy.ml 3 points 2 years ago (1 children)

This are the VPN allowed in China 😂 Seriously, I am not defending the West, which is far from being a real democracy, but neither can I defend China with the current president, it is a dictatorship with obvious violations of human rights and censorship and surveillance that I would not want here. Communism is based on the sovereignty of the people and China is currently far from this, with the only sovereignty being that of its leader.

so both sides same, but the left is always worse? is that the motto of the Julian Assange fan club? You wouldn't care about censorship in qatar, or el slavador because you're not really worried about them taking over the world and putting all the white christian men in cages or whatever like you think china and russia will. Even if I could show you that the US and EU had censorship ten times worse than China it wouldn't convince you the story is overblown exaggerated propaganda it would just convince you censorship is actually a good thing. So you're not even worried about censorship coming to america or the EU you're only using these stories to further a McCarthyistic cold war scare. It only exists to serve your propaganda, if I disprove it you'll just run off in search of something else. So its kind of pointless to discuss these things, and unfortunately I can't just demand that you explain your theories on why the reptilian space jews want to give us all windmill cancer and turn the frogs gay directly because you'll just pretend you have no clue what I'm talking about pretend to be insulted even though you know exactly what I'm talking about and aren't insulted at all.

Read my first post, where I speak of a GLOBAL problem in a capitalist world, where a small economic elite rules what rules. Dictatorship of money with different labels with more or less repression and manipulation. Different forms of more or less obvious feudalism, corrupt to the core.

[–] thetablesareorange@lemmygrad.ml 7 points 2 years ago (1 children)

a small economic elite rules

you mean the space jews?

[–] thetablesareorange@lemmygrad.ml 5 points 2 years ago (1 children)

I see, and what is your final solution to this problem?

[–] Zerush@lemmy.ml 1 points 2 years ago (1 children)

Good question, I know what I can do on a personal level and with respect to close people, but given the inherent stupidity of a large part of the population, who believes what this nice man says on TV or the priest, a short-term solution term is going to be difficult. On the other hand we are getting closer, given the danger of a world war and rampant climate change, that this system by itself is going to fall, but unfortunately not necessarily in the way we would like.

blaming global warming on space jews, and fear monerging about communists or whatever the CIA happens to hate this week, isn't going to help, if it's poor people or leftists its communist jews, if it's rich people its banker jews, so no matter what the conspiracy is real or not they will just say its the jews. Area 51 is run by the jews, the mafia is controlled by the jews, eventually you get to a point where all the worlds scientists and politicians are jews, or in league with the jews, and things like flat earth theory, or global warming being a hoax, become realistic, eventually every single news story is actually a distraction or false flag of somekind just a part of the jews plan, every war, every economic crisis, every cultural trend all the work of the space jews.... until finally you to start wondering, hey maybe Hitler wasn't such a bad guy

[–] Zerush@lemmy.ml 1 points 2 years ago (2 children)

Do you know the Illuminati? Conspiracy invention? Write Illuminati backwards and go to http://itanimulli.com/

[–] thetablesareorange@lemmygrad.ml 4 points 2 years ago* (last edited 2 years ago)

freemason conspiracy theories were very popular in nazi germany as well, the freemasons in reality are a boring fraternity of pudgy white guys hiding from their wives. They get drunk, play pool, and they get insurance discounts, it's not the League of Doom. It's pretty easy to join if you want they have open recruitment meetings once a month, if you want to go. I'm guessing you dont actually want to stop the Illuminati you just want to join them lol That website is owned by a conspiracy theorist, not the Illuminati, it cost $3 to setup

"I decided to forward the domain Itanimulli.com domain to the NSA as a joke ... kind of like a rickroll + shock site. I registered the website years ago precisely because it does spell Illuminati backwards, but didn't really do anything with it for a long time. When I had the idea to forward the domain to the NSA I couldn't pass it up, and couldn't stop laughing ..."

It's a fucking joke some random dude from Utah did bro, it's not proof the NSA is part of the illuminati.

Now if we could circle back to the part of this conversation where you said that you believe there are "space jews" among others that are running the planet. I have a question.

What the fuck?

[–] Zerush@lemmy.ml 1 points 2 years ago

I'm not talking about "space jews" or conspiracy theories, I'm talking about global political reality, where in a capitalist system, sovereignty does not reside in the people, but in the interests of multinationals and banks, which use governments and the media as spokespersons.

All current governments, regardless of what label they put on, be it democracy, communist or fascist dictatorships, are led by leaders who obey the dictates of the "market" and their own interests, only leaving the illusion of more or less freedom to the citizen.

These relationships precisely after the pandemic crisis and the current crisis over the war in Ukraine and climate change have become more than evident, when all the governments of the world have to recognize the energy, environmental and economic dependencies whose problems were denounced. for more than a century by scientists and citizens and systematically ignored by the influence of certain lobbies, politicians and related media.

For example, the company EXXON in internal investigations already knew in the 80s the influence of CO2 from the combustion of oil and coal products, on global warming and the rise in sea level, but not to publish it, but for internal calculations to know when they have to lengthen the pillars of their offshore oil platforms. THAT is the fuck, they piss in our faces making us believe it's raining.
