Been a while since I used Aegis, but as far as I remember Aegis is not cross-platform? Aegis you also have to sync the database/file yourself if you want backups of it. So its really down to preferences I guess.

Personally I like having it synced across my many devices for the convenience. I also really enjoy the work Ente is putting into their apps, they're developing solid apps with excellent functionality and releasing updates based on community feedback.

Hm, good of you to point out. I hope and assume they will post the code for this as soon as they launch this.

I'd be very surprised if this was some sort of sham. At least both Jeff Geerling and Raid Owl have posted about getting these; though like sent to them without them backing them directly.

Yeah, I do this too! A lot more convenient for me as I have multiple computers needing the same files.

Currently exploring some tools around this myself too. I'd recommend having a look at Gonic, LMS(light music server) and Navidrome for hosting music. Personally I quite liked the simplicity of Gonic.

If you need to re-sort/manage your music then, Beets and Musicbrainz Picard, or MediaMonkey (if you're on Windows) are your friends. These can add alot of additional metadata to your library.

Beets is apparently the "best" tool out of these as it has a big plugin library and hella customizable configuration for your exact setup.

Best of luck 🤞

Appreciate it, though this one to seems to be a little short on upcoming games.

Appreciate the find, but doesn't seem to be very up to date. Hasn't included either Stalker 2 or Path of Exile 2, which both launch during November.

Love the idea of this project, exactly something I'm looking for. Though as others have stated, a more native way for Linux or an integration with Lutris or Heroic Launcher would truly be helpful for this project. Believe it would get a lot more traction in the selfhosting community if this became a reality.

While I have not blocked the instance (yet), I purposely try not to post anything on any community hosted there and rather look for alternatives. Sometimes it's easier to comment and or post on an ml instance due to it being larger in user size such as the !privacy@lemmy.ml vs !privacy@lemmy.world - but in these cases I will crosspost too.

Wow this is honestly disappointing to see. Been reading his stuff for a while, guess I'll have to look elsewhere for Linux gaming news.

Just tried this, worked wonders! 🙌

Now this I have to try! Could you talk me through how you do this? Just read a quick article on it: you only blend oats and water, then strain it? Would coffee filters be good for straining?

As far as I know there are these;

  • Camel case = coolFileName
  • Snake case = cool_file_name
  • Kebab case = cool-file-name
  • Pascal case = CoolFileName
  • Dot notation = cool.file.name
  • Flat case = coolfilename
  • Screaming case = COOLFILENAME

Personally I prefer the kebab/dot conventions simply because they allow for easy "navigation" with (ctrl+arrow keys) between each part. What are your preferences when it comes to this? Did I miss any schemes?

Am currently sick with a bad throat. While enjoying my cup of coffee, I had the thought; "Should I avoid coffee if I have a bad throat?". So, are there any studies or general consensus on this?

Hi.

Tried to install nix but am stuck with an issue I'm not able to resolve. Whenever I boot the system, it uses approx 5min on the boot-up of Nixos Stage #1 as seen in the picture. After a while it will boot into the system but without a GUI. I've done the installation twice, with different isos to make sure I didn't do it wrong. It only works if I downgrade to nixos 23.11, but if I update(+plasma 6) from there It results in the same problem.

The error is:

kernel: Acpi Error: Aborting method (long string) due to previous error (AE_AML_UNINITIALIZED_ELEMENT)

Have no idea what this error is, and there don't seem to be alot of info on it. Reaching out here to see if anyone is able to help me troubleshoot this, as I would really like to try latest Nixos.

Just stumbled upon this project, seems rather new as my DNS blocked its domain by default for being too new hehe.. Anyone had a chance to try it yet? Its got some hefty promises, like having equally strong privacy features as Librewolf. I'll be giving it ago at least, almost sounds a bit too good to be true...

Only recently discovered yt-dlp, despite its popularity. However I was wondering if I were to use this, should it be used behind a VPN when downloading videos off public websites?

Hiya, so looking to download videos of certain websites. So far been using https://www.downloadhelper.net/ extension to download the videos manually, but it turns into a very tedious process after a while. Looking for a way to automate this process :) Let me know if there are any tools, programs or solutions to grab stuff off the internet.

Hi there, I just acquired myself the Sennheiser Momentum 4, mainly for using while communting + work. But figured i'd try them out for some gaming too. They work just fine when watching YT or any video, but when I launch a game the audio quality changes significantly. I have no idea how or why its doing it, nor how to fix it. I've tried all of these different audio profile options, but all of them make the audio either distorted, weak, or make it sound like the audio is trapped inside a room... Anyone know how to go about this? Audio works fine with my normal non-wireless headset.

My system is running Bazzite.

Appreciate any pointers to how to resolve this.

Believe I also turned off all "promo" emails and communications of any sort in the settings while i did have linkedin... thinking about just straight up deleting it now instead of leaving the profile deactivated.
