I am hyped, Urist. Long time Fortress Mode player, but have been waiting to play Adventure Mode until the official graphics come out.

Same! I'm very excited for it, can't wait!
It's so weird seeing release dates (even if just "April 2024") for Dwarf Fortress. I'm still used to the ol' "it's done when I say it's done" approach.
I can't wait. Adventure Mode has always been my favorite part of the game and I'm missing it so bad in the Steam version. I wanna be a hippoman and toss goblins around once again with the new systems.
Yup, I miss "the big wait" every time after a major release and bugfixes. Half the fun was estimating when the next release would come out and which items from the roadmap would make it.
What's this game like on the Steam Deck? I really want to have it be my go-to travel game when I'm waiting for the train
Clunky but still fun. It ends up being a mostly mouse-based UI if you're like me and constantly forget which deck button is mapped to which hotkey (it doesn't help that there are 3x as many hotkeys as there are steam deck buttons), and you're going to want to use the trackpad as your mouse. As a result I ended up feeling a lot of strain in my right hand while playing in handheld mode just from the sheer amount of APM my poor thumb was burdened with while the rest of my right hand was supporting the weight of the deck. The game runs like a dream though.
I tried adventure mode a couple of times years ago. I always died to the silliest stuff but I guess losing is FUN, right? ;) Would have been fun to adventure a bit more before dying. Maybe there will be some guides to get started with the new release.
Rlly hyped for this, haven't played it on steam yet but after this I will def
