Despite having lived here for my whole life I still get amazed at how like Skyrim/LOTR/Witcher Scotland is.

(Scottish) Gaelic is really interesting to read (not that I understand anything lol)

According to Wikipedia "Càrn Mòr Dearg" means "Great Red Peak"

So true, I live near the alps (which are also very nice) but the landscapes in Scotland were so beautiful and different to me!

Just curious as to why the landscape is so barren. What happened to the trees?

I think there are two main reasons:

  1. 1000m is way above the tree-line (500-600m)
  2. Heavy deforestation across Scotland until the 20th century
